I will on occasion (when I don’t want to spend money on AM tracks or be bothered constructing them) will use the in-box rubber bands. The Tiger and Panther ones from Tamiya can be made into nice looking tracks. The Sherman ones, on the other hand, are awful. They look OK except for a couple injection marks, but the have a weird curl to them and they are a link or two too long. I trimmed them but it was a total pain. The one side doesn’t want to seat properly so one link sticks out a little. I think I will be removing them in the near future and replacing them, but for now I just want to get this thing completed. HEre is the finished product after removing 2 links

Are you refering to their M4 Early-Production? I recently built one and the biggest problem I had was that the width between the guide horns was narrower than the return rollers and skid plates, which resulted in some weirdness on the top. I got it semi-straight on the return run with a liberal application of CA glue on the return rollers and skid plates, and then jamming a popsicle stick between the track and the underside of the sponson while the glue set.
I also discovered that the tracks were a bit long, but only after it was too late to contemplate cutting a link out of it. What I did to fix the sag off the sprocket and idler wheel, was again to glue the track to the wheels which keeps it fairly straight between the idler/sprocket and the end road wheels. It’s not perfect, but a reasonable improvement over what it was.
The one I am refering to is the M4A3 reboxing

I used liberal amount of CA glue too. I attached the one side, thinking I could remove the slack with a little bit of sag acrossed the top, but it was impossible. I removed the link from the second as a no-going-back test and it worked perfect. I had to then pry the first set off and trim it and thats where I had the difficulty. I needed two more hands because I couldn’t apply the glue, hold the ends together and squeeze all at the same time and the ends wanted to pull apart. I did get it, but it was an R rated moment.
I built the M4 early a few months back and was warned about the track being too long by some one here in the community. I cut a link out before I put it together. Worked great and I didn’t have any other troubles with them.
Yeah, I figured it out the hard way, but once I did that one side went on easy. The other side…[XX]
I used those tracks on my Academy M-10 and they fit great.
Wonder if mine were stretched or from a different production run where they would be longer??
Man its funny how life is sometimes.
I am building the M4 Sherman early and just tonight I glued the tracks together.
Yeah, they are too long. doh!
I wish I had read this post an hour ago.
Sometimes I think if it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any luck at all. ![]()
Well hopefully I can fix them.
Sweet build jason. Now you need to dirty her up!!!

They look pretty good to me, Jason. Certainly a lot better than the ones that came in my DML Firefly kit!
