I’m almost finished building this Tamiya Sherman kit which I found in my stash half-built. The box says M4 Sherman Early Production type. Would anybody know which series this is? It is of the welded body type.
Yes, it is a welded hull M4. You can make it from early production to mid production depending on which transmission cover and how much applique armor you put on.
Here’s a good tweaks list for the kit if you’re interested
A basic primer on Sherman variants is here too.
Roy has you covered with that help for sure!!
Yes, Mr. Chow knows a little bit about the Shermie…[;)]
Sweet, Roy. Kind of a Cliff’s Notes on Shermie builds. I like the note on Verlinden’s composite hull…no place for air cleaners or exhausts due to shortness of overhang, and I’m sure other things. Now I have to go look at the one I just popped off a lower hull and see if I can find any other faults…did I take the blue pill this morning?
Thanks for the list. I have filed it for future reference. It’s a big help.
That site overall is a great reference point for figures and vehicles. LOTS of good info there.
The kit sure is a pleasure to build. It’s one of my favorites. Fits together like Legos and looks great OOTB (if not completely accurate).
Semper Fi,
