Greetings. I am absolutely new to armor modeling and I’ve just received this wonderful kit as a gift.
From reading online resources, the thing that I should definitely pay attention to is replicating slip-on coating, which is a texture not included in the model.
Are there techniques to replicate this surface effect? Also what are some good resin kits and add-on etched detail parts I can acquire.
It is a very nice kit, but does need the anti-slip, as you already noted. Here is my technique using Rystoleum Texture Spray. http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=50656 As far as resin, it doesn’t need any. Eduard makes a few decent general PE sets for it, as do a few others like Voyager, Lion Roar, etc… I don’t think it really needs more than some nice PE mesh for the stowage baskets.
Never mind I found cans of it. It’s pretty cool, it sprays nice on top of plastic. I’m going to try to find a pattern for applying coats over Italeri’s M109A6 Paladin (which coincidentaly was repackaged by Tamiya).
