hey just finished this kit, was pretty easy and some nice details added which i liked. this is my second Model completed. think im getting better and tips or critizism is welcome. thanks for looking.
Havent yet mastered the art of takeing good pics/ with the light so bare with me.
Looks good for your second model. I like what you did with the water bottles. Hanging them on the mirror guards. I would have liked to seen the helmets and some of the rest of the gear tied down also. Use small string or even twisted 16 or 18AWG wire for rope. Painted up it looks good. I built one of these kits about a year ago. Done it up in AK yellow. I never got around to the weathering[:-^]. It’s setting under a acrylic case with the SdKfz 222. Just waiting.[BH] Your one step ahead of me by finishing yours![tup]
supposidly there are hooks for the helmets to hang on in the r/l 232 this kit dident haven any so there really wasn’t a need to add any thread for the helmets. i was going to loop the ruck sacks around the supports but ran out of metal wire mabye ill add that later.
After building the Matchbox 1:76 Sd. Kfz 232 (6 Rad) Radio Car, I am starting to like German armoured cars more and more. Perhaps a group build is in the future.
I think 'ya done pretty good for your second model. It’ll come to you better when you get some more kits under your belt. Those tool handles look really good and I like the rifle.
Thanks for posting your pics! A few things to note: 1) stowage 1: the Kar98k sitting behind the turret would certainly fall off as soon as the 232 moved. 2) stowage 2: the huge camo net bundle on the rear – would obscure the vision of the buttoned up crew – something always to consider and finally 3) the rear lights – shouldn’t be painted white or silver. If you see the slot, it was actually supposed to be a metal cap over the light with an opening.
the kar 98k is good for now i plan on doing a staionary diorama with this and a few panzer grenadiers along with it. So thats why i tossed the 98k on there. aso for the camo netting dident really think about the vision aspect. just wanted to add alittle more details. as for the lights ive seen some real pics of 232’s with the slots but have a clear plastic cover over them. i tried doing that with the liquid “ice” cement that dries clear and shinny. well dident work out as i hoped
