I finished this a couple months ago. This is my first Tamiya kit, Of course it won’t be my last everthing was perfect on this kit except the decals. The plane is a A6M-2 Rufe fighter This is also my first plane I wethered but I like clean better. Well all comments and Help are welcome.

Great job. I’m not too familiar with Japanese airplanes but it looks great. The paint job and weathering looks just right.

Not bad raptor. Looks like you tried to brush paint the canopy without masking. Try masking with Tamiya tape or Scotch Magic tape. The Zero/Rufe canopy is not easy to do, but it’s not overly difficult.

Regards, Rick

Ok that sounds like a good Idea using scotch tape some of my normal tape will have paint run through.THanks

Hey Raptor,

Nice lookin Rufe you’ve got there…!! Over all finish is good and I too agree with Rick on the canopy.

If you are not comfortable with using masking tape, you could always try E Z Mask by Ambroid. This is a liquid that you can brush on.

Once dry you can hand paint or airbrush with out any worries… When the paint is dry, just go back over the mask w/ tape and pull off. Then with a new tooth pick, go over any paint that bled through and it will remove it from the clear parts with out marking…

Again Raptor, good job my friend…!!

I too have a Rufe in my strash but its by Hasegawa and once I complete it I’ll post it

Flaps up,

Mike

Your Rufe looks very good. That design is a testament to the basic Zero in that they could add all that pontoon junk underneath and still have a darn good fighter.
