Tamiya Polyester Putty... ¡Help me please!

Hello!

I’m a modeller from Mexico, I started at 9 or 10 years old, quit during college and return a year and a half ago; I’m 35 now. I just trying new techniques and materials in order to get best results. I bought a Tamiya Tyranosaurus Rex Diorama for my 4 years old son and he can’t wait to see it finished… so, today I went to my hobby shop and bought the necessary material. In the instructions say that I need Tamiya Polyester Putty to cover gaps of the model, so I bought a tube of it… But now I don’t know how to use it (what quantities of putty and hardener is ideal to mix, what hardware is the ideal to handle it, etc…), and the instructions in the package of the putty are in japanese (!!!) and that’s why I come to you, in order to be well inducted in the use and handle of this putty.

Thank you very much in advance, and greetings from Mexico.

Julio.

First of all, welcome. Now, It’s a Tamiya kit, and Tamiya likes to “advertise” their products in the instructions. You can use any type of putty you want. I’ve never used Polyester putty, but by far Squadron white putty is one of the best puttys I’ve used. All you need really is the back side of an exacto knife to scrape it into place, and the instructions are straightforward. Here is a little tip on Seam filling I wrote. Sort of simple, but it describes it well I think.

Another option is milliput, an epoxy putty available at spruebrothers

Hi, is the article on another website now, the link doesn’t work anymore…
