Tamiya parts-no help

Hi I work with at risk kids and we are putting together 9 models to be finished before the end of summer so they can take them home.

One of the windsheilds was ruined in the build so I called Tamiya to get a new one. After many voice mails I called and contacted a live person. I gave him parts code 9002601 The model is in production and not discontinued yet they say the will have to get parts from Japan. They don’t ask for my name, phone number or credit card. All they say is call back in 2 or 3 months. That is really no help at all. My guess is I never get the part nevermind it time to send home with my student.

Any advice at all??

model is Taisan Starcard Porsche 911GT2

Hello, [#welcome] to the forums!

Not sure if it’s any consolation, but I spent the better part of last year trying to get replacement parts from them. Their customer service is woefully understaffed. They kept telling me “we’ll order it from Japan, should take 8-12 weeks” and after a couple of months, I would call back and they kept repeating the same line. I wouldn’t waste any more time with them.

My best advice is to post that you are looking for this part over in the aircraft forums, and hope that somebody has an extra one. Good luck!

or rather, the auto forum…[;)]

Cheers,
Alex

So, Frank, the absolute best advice you can come up with is to ask in the aircraft forum - for a porsche windshield? I like you an’ all, buddy, but I think you can come up with better than that [;)] [(-D]

BTW, I got that stuff in the mail - thanks again [tup]

You’ll pay for it but it might be the only way.

Man, sometimes I amaze myself with my stupidity! [D)]

Please disregard my previous advice, and follow Alex and Fred’s instead.

Thanks for the assist fellas! [:D] And Fred, glad it arrived safely- hope you can find a use for it. [tup]

I used their website to get a replacement part a couple years ago and had great prompt courteous service that way.
