Wrapped this project up today. This is Tamiya’s P-51B in 1:48 scale. In case anyone missed my previous paint job post, the finish is Floquil Old Silver, buffed out with a rotary tool and a soft wheel. About half of my decals turned to particles when they hit the water, luckily I had extra insignias and stencils from my stash, and I made my own replacement number decals, but special recognition goes out to hkshooter for graciously sending me replacements for the “Bonnie Bea specific” decals, thank you again, hkshooter. The kit provides “paper” drop tanks, but since I always liked the look of the teardrop tanks, I used some Hasegawa leftovers instead, only minor modifications were necessary. I had planned to add homemade seatbelts, but since the P.E. buckles I wanted are currently out of stock, I’ll have to add the belts a little later.
Spectacular detail. The lines are emaculent(spelling?) Great job on the differing shades on the panels. The rivots…WOW. I am drooling over MR’s new bride. Fantastic build.
