Tamiya P-47 Bubbletop 1 more pic w/fixed flaps

This is my entry in the P-47 “Jug” Group Build. My 1st Tamiya P-47 and everyone that said this is one of their best was not blowin’ smoke up anyone hello there. Quickboost resin engine and LG doors, Eduard PE detail set, scratched seat, 3 colors of Alclad and AM decals. Wing stripes are kits decals and the fuselage are painted.

I think I have the flaps extended a bit too far… but it is also the very best gluing job I have ever done because there was no way I was getting them off. And I noticed that I forgot to extend 2 panel lines on the belly after filling the seam.

Comments and critiques always welcome.

Marc,

very nice work indeed my friend! The flaps look a tad low, but that aside you have done a superb job of building and painting her.

I really do enjoy your builds-a real pleasure to see.[tup]

Super stuff, Marc. Your Alclad finish is smooth and the weathering just right.

That looks really nice, and great job on the NMF…About what Tango said, are the flaps just a little low?

Very well done wing nut. I like the markings “chow hound”. I have herd nothing but great things about this kit. Did you add any extra detail or PE to the landing gears themselves? you mentioned the gear doors are aftermarket.

Very nicely done Marc [tup]. The NMF came out great. As far as the flaps, you do have them over extended, but that’s one of the trickier assemblies to get right. Here’s a pic of one I did where the flaps are positioned as well as the kit allows. I think they still come down a tad too far, so I’ll modify the kit when I build another.

Regards, Rick

Well done sir. Very nice, one of your best, I have this one in the stash to build one day.

Superb work and detail. Can’t beat that Tam kit huh? The finish looks very well done.

Andy

absolutely stunning work, Marc. Display it proudly.

This is one of the most photogenic P-47’s I’ve ever seen! And who was it recently that said they were tired of seeing jugs? I love the NMF - still trying to get one of mine to come out flawless like that.

My biggest question is - what kind of set-up do you guys use to get such expert looking photography? Do you take these to a studio or do you do it at home? To me, having such nice, clear photgraphs more than makes up for the missing two lines on the bottom of the fuselage . . . [:D]

That is exceptional work, Marc! [tup] The engine detail is fantastic! Great work on the stripes, too. Using the three shades of Alclad II the way you did gives the finish a lot of depth, and the weathering on it looks just right to me. Two enthusiastic [tup] [tup] !

Beautiful work as always Marc! You really have that NMF down to a science. Even though the engine is hard to see, the aftermarket goodies and your hard work really paid off! [bow]

Marc: again… my [tup] [tup] [tup] [tup] [tup]

Fantastic build. Superb !!

[bow][bow][bow] Very well done, Marc!

I gotta ask- those data plates on the landing gear. Are those part of the decals? Or were they part of the AM kit?

Looks fantastic, Marc! I’m ready for a ride!

Nice one Marc! Great job, man-

Gorgeous! [tup]

Wow Marc that’s awesome [tup][tup][tup]. Great paintjob and I love the detailing on the engine, very nice indeedy.

Thank you all so much for the comments.

Those flaps are realy bugging me so Ithink it will have to “go under the knife”, as they say.

phoenix… the lg struts and doors some PE as well

jschiechty… this is the setup I use. All halogen bulbs and the lights on the sides are diffused with dryer sheets. They can take the heat and it smells nice while I shoot.[:)]

Desertrat… those placards come on the kit’s decal sheet.

Outstanding work! I always liked the P-47 and this is another fine example!

I am always amazed at the great NMF that are produced with Alclad. One of these days I’ll have to try it out. The results are really spectacular.
