Well, it just goes to show you that you never know when your hobby tools will come in handy.
I was cleaning my barracks room for a Field Day inspection, when I locked up my night stand, nothing unusual there. Well, when I was waiting to be inspected, I wanted to grab something out of the night stand when I realized that I was a dumb@$$ and locked my keys in there. I ran all around the barracks looking for someone who could pick a lock, couldn’t find one. so I asked the duty for some bolt cutters but the barracks manager had them and I didn’t want to wake him. So instead, I grabed my trusty hand saw and away I went.
The hand saw won. If you don’t have one, I highly recomend you purchase one. I love mine to death.(even if I do need a new set of blades) [(-D]
EDIT- Here is the champ and the defeated lock for your veiwing fun.
Ahhhhh, Camp Kinser. I was at Camp Hansen for a year back in '91. I really miss those cheap prices on Tamiya kits and tools. There was a hobby shop right outside the main gate.
Glad your saw worked. I’m thinking of getting one.
Do you know if the Tamiya Modeler’s Knife accepts #11 blades?
I live by Ft. Meade. It’s about 1.5 hours south of Aberdeen. My in-laws live in Havre De Grace which is a few miles from Aberdeen.
Is Kin Ville still the party place? When I was in Okinawa, Marines from around the island came to Kin Ville on the weekend to “do the things Marines do”. I blew a lot money out there.
I’m not much of a party person (I know its hard to believe, me 25 and a marine, not a party guy) From what I hear from the other marines, the party scene is alive and well out there. I couldn’t tell ya where to start looking for it though.
You talken Shima’s or Tamiya? cause I frequent both. I got the saw from Shima’s and I also get all my A/C and some of my gundam kits from there.
and if you ever see a tall (bout 6’ 5") Marine in one of those stores don’t be a stranger! I love talking to other service members that model. Thats how some of my ideas come to life and one of the ways I stay sane on this little island.
defenately tamiyas, though Shima’s is just up the street on the same side of the road. It is closer to Foster and has Gundam and Airsoft posters plastered in the windows. mostly has a mix of robot, car, armor, A/C, and Airsoft pelet guns. he also has a much bigger model supply section.
