I’ve wanted a Vietnam version of the Sheridan for some time now, and just have not seen anything on the market! So, with some inspiration from the July 97 FSM feature by Cookie Sewell, and another feature from Hyperscale by Rolando Raffaut, I decided to attempt doing some scratch building of a Vietnam era Sheridan! Starting with the out of production Tamiya kit p/n89541 I established my base. I scratch built the TC coppla using M113 50cal shield, and scratching the rest. Added attaching bars, and NV lite from an old Esci kit, and actually took some of the bolts for the light from the sidesskirts of an Bradley AFV I’ve had laying around for a million years. Added some loose gear here and there, and came up with this rendition of a Vietnam era M551. I did not go into as much detail as the two folks I credit with giving me the initiative to attempt this, but I’m overall happy with the end result. I hope you enjoy the pictures. not half bad. i like what you did with the tracks.
Oh ya thats a nice build !!! [tup][tup][tup] I built the old Tamiya M42 Duster and added some scratch build years back but never painted it . Did you use chalks for the dust yw18mc ? I think i’m going to dig out that old kit and slap some paint on it and dust it up! Thanks for putting up the pictures.
Thanks for the kind remarks Cruiser5! There actually are no pastels on my Sheridan? I pretty much got the weathered look using artists oils by blending and feathering of colors. The flash of the camera takes some of the realness of the look away. Thanks for your comment. Semper Fi, mike

Great looking build.
If you want a suggestion I would vary the color of the stowage. Use some shades of greens for the backpacks, bed rolls, and gas cans and it will bring the model alive.
WOOHOO! OUTSTANDING! Love the Sheridan and much respect for scratchbuilding so much of it! ! ! HATS OFF!
Excellent build!
Wow, excellent work. I love the busy, purposeful look of the turret.
Mike, great looking build! did a n ice job on that, like the weathering touch you gave it as well… thanks for the pics…
Thanks very much for your generous comments friends. It really is a challenge trying to get that alive look when you’re working with olive drab colors! I couldn’t agree more with the suggestions made by Steve on the use of different shades of greens to break up the monotone look. The appearance is a little more realistic without the flash of the camera. Still, I think the accessories probably can use some more work! Thanks again for your feedback, andtaking the time to view my work. Semper Fi, mike
Nice job. [tup] I like the tracks also. It turned out so much better than the one I tried.
Great job Mike, must have missed your post . I’ll have to give it [tup][tup][tup][tup][tup] That’s the best I can do, OH Mike did you post these before or after your nap[:D] See ya Friday
Thanks Ken! now you’re giving away my secrets of how a well rested hobbyist makes less mistakes? LOL. Semper Fi, mike
