Tamiya M26 & AFV Club Tracks

Hi there tank guys. I don’t do much in the way of armor so I was wondering if you could help me out.

I have the Tamiya M26 Pershing and a set of the AFV Club T84E1 tracks and I read somewhere that these tracks don’t fit the Tamiya kit, is this true?

Are these tracks useable with the M26 or should I save them for my DML M48?

Thanks
Darren

the easier way of finding out is make the sprocket wheel up and try the tracks around it, if the tracks dont fit in the teeth and theres gaps or there too wide to fit, you might have to save the tracks for your other kit
ive only got the M26 so i cant try them, but the kit tracks are good, they never sagged on the Pershing

Yes, the AFV Club track are too wide for the Tamiya sprocket. This can be corrected by adding a section of plastic tubing to the center of the sprocket to widen it. Check below for more info on the procedure. Gunnie, Jim Lewis used these track on his M45 Howitzer Support Tank.

It is an easy fix. Good luck.

The Jim Lewis article on his M26 105mm close support tank build is an excellent article. Thanks for posting the link Gino. Semper Fi, mike

Yup, great article. I plan on building the same tank, have all the parts, just need to get to it in the pile. Check out Jim’s other build to see some great models.
