Tamiya Lancaster question?

Squadron has the 1:48 Lancaster on sale and I’m thinking of getting it. I’m wondering if anyone knows if the plastic is black or grey on it? I herd the rerelease is grey but I’m not up to date on releases and rereleases.

Hey ww2psycho,

I have the old kit (#51021) and it is in black. That one looks like the newer kit so not sure but I thought I shot you this anyway. Hope it helps.

Thanks, I think I found something that says it should be grey. I have the mosse in black plastic and it seems like black would be harder to work with than grey.

More than likely. It’s a newer run so it might have a new color plastic. And you are right, grey would be easier to work with. Good luck and post pics when you get it!

I bought one of these about 2 months after it was released, I paid less for it than what squadron wants.

I have 61105 and it’s molded in gray. It’s the same plane – I’m not sure what the differences are in the two kits, otherwise.

I found one on ebay for like $80 but they want like $40 in shipping. Im going to get a few other things on that website as well.

I’ve built it, it’s grey if its a re-release, good kit except the engines require a lot of filler to get the cowlings to blend to the wing, otherwise its a great kit!

I’ve read that a lot too, also read how they fixed it. We’ll see how I do when I get around to building it,

It’s not a difficult fix, otherwise it’s Tamiyas usual fit.

Sounds good to me! I hope its not too hard to make it wheels up, I want to make it a ceiling hanger with the bomb bay doors open.

Should be fine, I made it with the wheels down but the fit is great other than the cowlings so I can’t imagine it would be too difficult.
