Tamiya Hornet

I just took advice and purchased a Tamiya, 1:700 water line model. It is the US Hornet. There are essentially no painting instructions. The planes of course I can handle. Please help me if anyone has built this. I see the camoflauge pattern on the hull and superstructure. I normally do WWII planes, is this airbrushed?

Next, what is the deck color?
Masts?
Guns?
Lifeboats?
Any other specifics?

I am just lost on ship color schemes. As usual, instructions leave much to desire.

The Hornet carried a Measure 12 Revised pattern.

This means she had 5-N Navy Blue and 5-O Ocean Gray on her hull, and 5-H Haze gray and 5-O Ocean Gray on her island.

Flight Deck would be Norfolk 251 stain, but you can use 20-B Deck Blue, as they are so damn close you can’t really tell them apart, especially if you do any weathering whatsoever.

With regards to gun mounts, masts, etc., items on the decks would carry the camo pattern of the area, so, if a demarcation line fell between 2 gun mounts, one would be Navy Blue the other Ocean Gray. Masts are 5-H Haze gray.

White Ensign Models carries the Colorcoat paints which are incredible, and Testor’s Acryl has a line of Navy paints as well that aren’t that bad.

I have a camo design sheet I can scan for you, drop me an email.
