finally called it a day on this one, i tried to do something a little different with the paintwork and maybe overdid it a little but i like it none the less, this was a really easy kit to build and great fun to play with the painting and weathering i added a screen on the rear intake and plumbed the light and if i do another which is highly likely i will change out the tow cables i didnt think the kit are quite up to par with the rest of the kit, all in all i definatly recommend this one.
Okay, Ron…you actually outdid yourself with this paintjob; it is sublime…I don’t know how you do it…the balance of colors is superb…the darker shades make it visually very interesting…one of the best “ambush/disc” schemes I’ve seen in a long time…tow cable looks fine to me…Bravo…
Superb paint job, Ron! The disk/ambush scheme looks completely pro!
I agree that the tow cable looks fine–better than my out-of-scale one![:-^]
Love the jack–it looks real!
Interesting that you chose one without a number too. I don’t like the looks of numbers on this tank either, for some reason?
If I were doing another one, I’d probably put numbers on that for variety though!
Why do you think you overdid the paint? If you mean the stencilled chips, I don’t think they’re overdone. I do agree with Manny that it’s a tad dark, but I know the future does that-- besides, a fresh paint job wouldn’t be faded anyway. All in all, I think its a keeper![:D][tup][tup][tup][tup]
Great disk, cloud, ambush, or scheme of the day. [;)] Very well executed. I think you went a bit subtler than your normal weathering approach, not that that is a bad thing. All and all, another fine piece to add to your growing collection. As popular as Hetzers are, I’m a bit surprised there hasn’t been a GB yet. OOPS! [:D]
Really like the paint job, but the thing that catches my attention is the tracks.
At first I didn’t think the treads had been high lighted, but I do see where you have given them a metallic finish. Very good job, as mine always seem to come out much shinier than your’s.
Biffa, this is a beautiful build!! High marks for paint, weathering, wear & tear, and camo scheme. Also high marks for tracks, and for “metalizing”.
A few things (they’re good things) -
First, I absolutely LOVE the way you’ve got that dusty look done, for example on the rear part of the right fender (under & behind the jack). That looks like real dust and worn-down paint. Brilliant.
Second, your tracks look amazing. I’ve never been able to get tracks to look like that, yet.
Third, the overall finish is excellent, and I think you’ve got just the right amount of wear & weathering.
Fourth, I’ve been exploring different weathering types & techniques for the metal edges on armored vehicles, and these pics are examples of how it’s supposed to look. You’ve nailed it.
Lastly (well, I could rave about this Hetz for an hour, but I won’t), your use of the “disc” or “circle” or “cloud” or whatever-it’s-called camo scheme is perfect for this build. Looks low and mean, and the lack of hull numbers makes it look even meaner.
I agree with you on the tow cables though. They’re not up to the level of the rest of the build. That would be an easy fix, no? I have a thing about tow cables anyway - I just can’t bring myself to use the kit-supplied cables on any kit.
[#ditto]-- I must say, Ron, for my taste, this subtler approach is much more attractive than your ‘norm’-- as beyond reproach as that is!(always excellent)–and just a ‘correct’ as a more heavily weathered vehichle, just newer or less abuse-- Hetzers don’t really crank me up, but yours does-- what else can I say?— tread[8D]
