I have a US M3 and M16 half track. I want to convert one of them to the howitzer track.
the question is can I use the M16 [quad 50s] or do I have to use the M3?
The AEF site is not clear on the donor for their convesion. they do say to use the M16 halftrack when using their quad 50 conversion.
I would like to snag the quad 50s to make a M5 Stuart prototype that had the quad 50s [it never went into production]
then do a diorama of the two tracks together
For either the T30 (75mm) or the T19 (105mm) HMC’s, I would tip my hat to the M3 version and not the M16.
The sides of the M16 would have to be redone.

“Includes injection molded 105mm gun, resin half sides, rear and floor, and Howitzer mount.”
This is from AEFs web site. I guess I am just going to have to spend the $$$ and find out if I can do it.
thanks for the input.
Last time I was in Hobby Lobby [yesturday] they had both the Tamiya M16 quad gun half track and the german 251 halftracks on clearance. Been on clearance for about a month now. the german one is about $10 bucks and the U.S. one was about $12 or $13. Just so you know if you need that quad gun for the stuart. They also had the tamiya Stuart on clearance for around $8 bucks. i’ve bought all three. I have noticed however that clearance prices tend to flutuate a little between Hobby Lobbies but they tend to place the same stuff on clearance.
I am useing the M-21 to make that same convertion.
What is the address for AEFs web site?
AEF Designs’ recommendations for which halftrack to use also depend on whether the kit has the winch or the roller on the front bumper.
Have you checked out Squadron/Signals Halftrack book? Looks of useful stuff in there.

This should take you to the halftrack page
jmorgan_11: I have it on order
MartianGundamModeler: good for you, but for me the nearest hobby Lobby is three states away[:(]
Looks like I will have to give AFE a try. I am scrach building the Howitzer mount and useing the M2A1 105mm Field Howitzer.
