tamiya filler and masking tape....???

Hi…I used tamiya filler to fill small gaps and used masking tape so that not to fill other details. When I sanded smooth the filler I noticed that the plastic where the excess filler dried , had whitened. When I sprayed over it, it left like a straight line where the masking tape was. I have removed all the excess filler.

Ever Happened to you? I have used this technique on other models but It never happened to me…This is a trumpeter kit…could it be the type of plastic they use?
