Tamiya f-16 subject choise ?

How do you guys feel about the new Tamiya f-16 ? From what i’ve seen and read on the internet and mags this seems to be a fantastic kit. But, as good as this kit is, I wounder if anyone else felt a little dissapointed about the subject choice when this kit appeared. Don’t get me wrong the f-16 is an attractive sleek looking plane but i feel , like the 109, its just been done already in the modeling world. I would have loved to have seen this new modeling technology put into a subject that we dont have yet. …A new 1:32 ww2 bird ,some other turbine aircraft, anything ! what would you guys like to have seen done ?

I guess i should stop my complaining , buy the kit , build it and enjoy the magic moldings . I hope to hear from you soon. Peter.

No matter what new kit comes out, there are lots of modelers that would have preffered something else. Tamiya is just one Company & there are others releasing new kits on a regular basis. Wait long enough & the right kit will come along.

Regards, Rick

Having a new, state of the art kit of the F-16 doesn’t bother me. Especially since this particular model, the CJ was not available in kit form, that I am aware of. The older Hasegawa kit was starting to show it’s age. I am looking forward to some of the announced kits. Mostly the 1/32nd F-100D. YAHOO!

Peter,
I hear what your saying, and for the record I don’t think your complaining…it is the same question dare I say ALL of us have asked at one time or another. I just bought the F-16 kit and it looks wonderful.I wish though, that they would have spent the money needed to tool the F-16 and put it into updating their ancient F-14.I’m not much into WW II subjects but I am sure the guys that are, could keep this topic going for the next two weeks on ideas for an ALL new 1/32 scale kit.To me though it looks like that Trumpeter is going to be my main donation station for the coming year. They just released the SU-27,with the A-7E and the AV-8B soon to follow…and on top of that I think Academy(?) is tooling up a 1/32 A-6E as we speak…That only leaves the EA-6,S-3,E-2,and SH-60 before you can build an entire Naval Air Wing.Oh well …as the saying goes…so many models,so little time.

I got the F-16 and it is a great kit. I would love to see the complete century series of aircraft in 1/32 scale as well as the F-8. I don’t think it will happen. How long did we have to wait for them in 1/48 scale, and there are still some early Navy jets that haven’t been made in 1/48. It sure would be an expensive collection though.
