Tamiya Dark Yellow - how to lighten?

Does anyone know how to get rid of the green tinge in the XF60. have just sprayed my T2 basecoat and it looks seasick. Alternatively, could I use XF59 as a basecoat?
Is the green tinge correct? Help!!

Does anyone know the Gunze Sangyo equivalent for XF60? And can it be found in the UK?

I don’t use acrylics so I am assuming this is the yellow used by the Germans as a base coat on their field equipment in the latter half of the war. If it is, I’ve never read or seen anything that would indicate the base yellow has a greenish tinge to it. Try this, add some yellow to the mixture. For years I mixed zinc chromate green for aircraft interiors by mixing yellow and black. If I wanted it greener (and darker) I would add more black and if I wanted yellower (and lighter) I added more yellow.
Another thought comes to mind also. Do you just have one bottle of the XF59? If so you may just have a problem with that particular batch of paint from the mfg. I once had three tins of Humbrol Armor Grey and all three had slight but noticable differences in the color when applied.
Hope this helps a little.

I wonder if you got a bad batch? I use the Tamiya paints a lot and don’t notice much of a greenish tint to it. Model Master seems to have it though.

I guess ‘lightening’ dark yellow would be done by adding flat white. Removing the ‘greenish tinge’ is another thing. Not sure how one would do that. Where’s an art-major when you need one?

I might suggest adding Tamiya Buff to the dunkelgelb. This seems to work very well for me. I’m with Jason, I use Tamiya Dark yellow on everything and have noticed no issues. Good Luck,

Steve

I used Tamiya dark yellow and have never noticed a green in it.

What color was the plastic before you painted? If you did a ight coat and the plastic was green, blue, etc that may have contributed to the green. What color light are you looking at the paint under? You can add a little yellow or some buff to the paint if you think you have gotten a bad batch or contaminated the paint. Red will make it browner, white will make it more pastel. Thoroughly mix your paint.

good luck

make sure that you have correctly mixed that paint. Not sure why there would be a green tinge to it. I personaly have never see that before. Maybe you can post some pics so we can see the problem?

Dave

I think the problem was that I primed the model with grey auto primer beforehand. The PE side skirts which were unprimed came out fine.

Heres a pic - maybe I’m off base - let me know

I think it looks fine, and once you complete your camo scheme and weathering, it’s no big deal. I think you’ve got a winner there. Long live the KING!

I have seen the green in my xf60 too. I mixed a little xf59 and xf2(white) and I think it looks better.

Dunkel Geld( dark yellow) does have a light greenish tint. The dark sand however does not. Tone it down with flat white for scale effect
