Tamiya Char B in progress...

I haven’t posted anything in a while as I haven’t had much time to devote to taking pics but these are the first of many in progress builds. This is Tamiya’s Char B1 in German markings. I think I might have posted in progress build pics about a year ago but not sure and can’t find any on my PC. The build as most of you know is very striaght forward and very very easy. I just added some texture and weld beads to the turret, Jordi Rubio Barrels, Model Kasten Conical rivets to the manlet and K&S brass sheet to the exaust with straps. The Char was painted in Tamiya Acrylics with Archer transfers on the turret. The German markings are Eduard masks. I am still in the preocess of weathering and hopefully I can get this done soon. Any comments and suggestions are much appreciated and thanks for looking.

Very nice–if you’re still in the process of weathering, I’d say don’t forget to weather the mufflers, and also some chippping on this tank would look really good, IMO. Some nice rust streaks would be appropriate too–all those rivets just crying out for rust! [;)]

Looks good.BTW,if you’re not going to use the snake decals,I could use them.My wife built this baby a few months ago but trashed one of the snakes.

Wow, dude—you are posting some good armor! I’d like to see a little more dust/dried mud progresively added as you get lower on the hull and eventually to the suspension…5 stars!

Kudos! Great looking work! I think the exhaust is all I would address. Pretty awesome!

The Char B1 bis was one of my more favorite builds the last few years. Two things to consider: the design of the tracks threw LOTS of dirt over the side sponsons – make it filthy.

Secondly, the vertical seam on the right side of the driver’s armor should be filled in. I know you’ve already painted but something to think about…

Very nice but looks a bit clean.Excellent paint job though Full marks on that.

Looks super Moses. I love the camo and faded look, much like your StuG. Busy, busy guy.

Thanks guys. I plan on griming up that exhaust some time this week and thanks so much for the suggestions.

T26E4 you hit the nail on the head and I realized that after I started painting the camo. I appreciate you cathing that and giving the advice thats why we post here.

MIG pigments will be seeing some light this week.

Thanks again guys for the suggestions.

Cheers

Rob

Glad to help Rob. Dunno if you want to see but even the horizontal seam could use some putty

This is all from this page:

Thanks Roy. I have another Char B that I plan on doing one of the French hard edged schemes on. I will definately use this reference for next project. Thanks so much for the pic and the link.

Cheers

Rob

I’d say the jury is out regarding the hard-edge camo application. There’s video showing the demarcation line (black or dk brown) being applied at the Renault factory with an airgun.

Also, other color pics I’ve seen show a soft edge to the “Renault” camo scheme.

When I built mine, I did spray for the body and paint brush for the turret. This was before I saw the video clip where the worker is actually spraying the black/brown line very close to the surface of the turret. Here are some WIP and finished pictures:

Anyways, feel free to contact me offsite.
