I had fun with this build. I used MM enamels, acrylic washes for the interior, and Pro Modeler pre mixed washes for the xterior.
Got to give a shout out to the guys involved with night fighter group build for the help with the black finish.

Awesome! Beaus look good in any colours but there’s that extra bit of menace with the NF. You’ve captured it well.

Off topic.- Anyone know why the Brits had the copper cowls? Was it actual copper or just a paint that looks like it? (Sorry for the hi-jack)

The “copper” cowl front was actually an exhaust “collector ring” (ie. manifold), taking the exhaust from multiple cylinders (14 on the Bristol Hercules) to a single exhaust outlet/pipe and actually could vary in shade anywhere from “new” to burnt/heated metal. It’s not usually painted as paint would just burn off.

I should have used a flash to do a close-up of the interior of cowls. I tried to represent the interior of the copper collecter ring with gun metal dry brushed with steel and burnt metal… got to get into pigments at some point.
Ok, now that I look at it closely I see what you mean, it’s the same as on the Swordfish aswell then.

To quote Manny & some other guy - winning!! Thanks for the “cowling” info. I’ve built one of these in 1/72 & didn’t realize the reason for the copper colour.
