Tamiya AS paints

Hello

New member to the forum, so excuse my ignorance if this has been asked before, or if everyone knows the answer.

I am building the Tamiya Clear ME262.

On the paint instructions it asks for AS# paint.

Now I have all of the X and XF paints, but not seen the AS# variety.

What is it and where do i get some from.

Kind regards

theyre tamiya spray cans…
as is mainly for aircraft
ts is mainly for cars
ur local hobby shop should stock them, if not u could probably order them somewhere online…

Hi howiejmidlands, Tamiya Color Sprays for Aircraft (AS-#) and Tamiya Color Acrylics (X-#, XF-#) are basically the same other than the way they are packaged and volume. Strangly enough, Tamiya does NOT provide which AS spray is the same color as its Acrylics (e.i. AS-27 [Gunship Grey 2] = XF-24 [Dark Grey]). The Tamiya spray cans are a bit on the expensive side so Testors/Model Master sprays can be a good substitute. Check your local hobby shop or on a reputed online merchant for them.

tamiya custom mixes the lacquer in their spray cans. i’ve used olive drab and german grey and both came out a lot lighter in shades as compared to the XF’s for the same color.
