Tamiya airbrush acrylic + Tamiya spraycan clear issue

I was under the impression that Tamiya acrylics in the small bottles were compatible with the Tamiya spray cans. I’ve done a delicate airbrushed finish with Tamiya acrylics, thinned with their appropriate Tamiya thinner, and let dry for a few days. I gave a light coat of Tamiya clear from the spraycan. I have a lovely surface finish, except for 1 thing… the feathered airbrushed areas - now underneath the clear, where I have put a lighter colour on have ‘mottled’. It’s as if the Tamiya clear has dissolved them, ever so slightly.
I’ve use Tamiya clear to seal Tamiya acrylics with no issues before, but the last time I did this was around a year ago. Any ideas?
I’ll try and post a pic tomorrow.

The spray can clear is lacquer based. It probably dissolved some of your acrylic paint. If you want to spray the lacquered based clear over acrylics, you have to spray very thin coats. That’s kind of hard to do from a spray can. Can you decant the paint and spray it through an airbrush? Maybe someone else knows of an acrylic spray clear.

Thanks Jesse, I suspected this, but I should have done my research before. Interestingly it has not been an issue previously, but lesson learned, I guess.
