Tamiya Acrylic Primers

Does Tamiya make bottled (grey) acrylic primer? Can’t seem to find it on internet and we have no LHS in Roswell.I want to airbrush it onto my A-10 before painting. I found their spray primer in a can and a white brush on but nothing else. Should I just suck it up and use the spray can and forget about being so anal with the airbrush? This is my first time out on this thing and would really like to get it right.

Thanks

Sonny

Not per se. I use Tamiya Flat Sky Gray, XF-19.

Tamiya does have a grey version of the white brush-on Liquid Surface Primer, but it’s not acrylic. The bottled LSP’s (both grey and white types) are lacquer based priducts. These products may be thinned for airbrushing if required. I have found that these may be thinned and cleaned up with ethyl (denatured) alcohol.

Thanks to Triarius and Phil H.

I find if you let it to set up over night it is pretty tough, and can evenbe polished to a sheen with polishing cloths.

I’ll back up Ross’ comment on that Tamiya Flat Sky Gray, XF-19. As long as you give it time to dry it seems to stick really well. I actually just used this technique last weekend thanks to Ross’ suggestions in another post.

As for Tamiya, I contacted them in regards to supplying us with an acrylic primer and they gave me the short answer as usual. And that is, “no we don’t carry it and we don’t plan on it.”
