Tamiya 1/48 Panther G - 70%

How_low

I have finally learnt how to post pics and are now able to show you my Tamiya Panther G which is about 70% complete and is 100% OOB. This will be my first completed armour build, first airbrushed build, first airbrushed camouflage build and first weathered build - I havn’t started any weathering yet, but intend to use pastels, wash, chip, dry brush and filter and dot filter.

The scheme is almost done, it just needs some TLC for redefinition and to correct some over spray and a couple of slight puddling’s. Now, the scheme in the kit instructions shows a labrynth of tight and intricate curves and turns and I started off trying to replicate this but it proved extremely difficult free hand, even in a square-inch of space. So, I proceeded with only vaguely copying the scheme in the instructions. Because I sure as hell wasn’t going to spend 6+ insanity-inducing hours creating a three-colour-camo mask. That is a first I am happy to leave until a few more armour builds down the track.

With all that said, this will be no showstopper. A few construction errors here, some inaccuracies over there, boo-hoo. But it will definitly be a build I will be proud of when done - provided I don’t #%@& it up between now and completion.

All constructive comments and crits greatly appreciated.

Ok SomeNewGuy,that Panther is looking pretty darn good if you ask me.One thing you may want to do is hollow out your exhaust pipes a bit… Keep them pics comin.

Camo job looks great-shows good AB control on a smaller model. The tracks look good also.1/48 is a good way to get into armor, looking foward to see it thru.

that is one darn good model!!! can wait to see it complete!

You’re probably not there yet, so I might be jumping the gun, but don’t forget to paint the inside road-wheels rims steel and the drive-sprocket teeth as well. For link-and-lengths, the sure look beautiful.

Thankyou very much guys. It means a lot to me.

Tigerman, what do you mean by the “inside” wheel rims? But do’nt worry about stuff like the teeth. I’ve got that in mind.

Cheers!

Hi all. I have since painted the guide teeth, idler faces and sprocket teeth Humbrol metallic silver and touched up the camo with yellow and green. Still have a bit more to go with perhaps all three colours, but mainly red brown.

I hope to complete the scheme by Thursday, do a general filter of highly diluted dark yellow and begin painting the gun and stowage etc, then gloss coat and begin further weathering.
