Tamiya 1/48 JS-2

I just finished this one.It was for a 1/48 Campaign on Armorama. It was a nice little kit that went together fast with no problems.I added no AM and I weathered it lightly.I dressed it in Polish markings.I recommend the 1/48 armor as an intro to armor or a quick diversion.Pics are not the best,it was cold outside !!

Looks fine to me Anthony. Always liked that big barrel on the JS-2’s. I’ve always wanted to try 1/48, but I have so many 1/35’s in the stash, it just kind of doesn’t make sense to me. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate another modelers build though.

What did you use?

I’m curious if that undersized CMK resin mantlet and barrel I got for the JS-2 is really for the 1/48 scale kit and not the 1/35 scale kit. It was seriously undersized compared to the Italeri/Zvezda and Tamiya barrels. And yes, I am sure the packaging says 1/35. I may have to get this kit to see if it is so.

What’s the length of your gun tube and muzzle brake?

Looks real good. Since I might be starting one in 1/72 , I am also curious about what color you used.

I went back and looked over your IS-II and …

!http://www.laserholics.com/images/smilies/giggle-animated-animation-giggle-smiley-emoticon-000389-large.gifI think the size of the mantlet & barrel you have in place is fine.

That’s one fine looking model! Love the choice of Polish markings! I would KILL for some kielbasa right now!

The track/hull clearance looks much more accurate than on theDML offerings.

guys,thanks for the comments.

Rob,my barrel is exactly 85mm from the mantlet including the brake

The color is Vallejo Model color 096 Camo Olive Green, the rack tag said Russian Green,I also washed it with Mig Dark Brown Wash.

I know. That’s why I suspect the CMK barrel I have might have been made for the 1/48 scale kit but mistakenly packaged as 1/35 scale. But this is just my guess and I will measure it against Tojo72’s measurement to be sure.

P.S. you may want to increase your font size. It is microscopic.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll fix that.

Nice work! As I said I love the look of the JS/IS series and she looks great.
