Tamiya 1/48 Jagdpanther (Late)

I really like the 1/48 scale. Big enough to pick out details and small enough to comfortably work on the living room table.

I haven’t finished weathering the running gears and tracks as I am undecided on what kind of terrain i am gonna put for a little diorama - mud or snow.

sorry, I get broken links…:frowning:

Cool! That thing looks well worn from the weather. I think it would look killer in a snowy dio, but thats just my [2c]!

I like the winterwash on your Jagd. I think the spare tracks need to be toned down, they just look too in-your-face. I’m thinking the wheels should have some whitewash too. Thanks for sharing your nice build.

I sorta wished that 1/48 was more available 5 years ago, then I might have dug into it myself.

Thaks for all the feedback. I agree, looking at the pics - I need to back over the spares with a burnt sienna wash or a coat of Dullcote to take off the brightness.

I’ve seen some pics of Panzers on the Eastern Front in a Winterwash except for the roadweels which were still in the base colors - crews may not have had no time to do them but I think i am gonna add some as i am gonna take the “2 Cents” and design a little ambush vignette around this one.

Next up are the Tamiya Giant and the SU-122. If I had more room - that might make for an interesting diorama. I may have to convince the wife that all those pictures and vases are not really necessary [:D]

Lol, good luck with that one, hehe. I’m still trying to convince mine that models arent just toys![swg]

MadMel,

Great looking job. Very well worn. I’d go [tup] [tup] [tup].

Joe [:D] [:D]

I’m seeing a bunch of Xs…

Thanks guys - much appreciated.

I don’t know what it is with the red X’s. I link the pics via webshots - that’s probably whats causing it.

all I can say is WOW !!!.In my novice opinion, that’s 1 of the best [ snow ] weathering job I ever seen. And in 1/48th scale !!.Some day I hope to be that good in weathering. Outstanding

Thank you for your kind words. I browse this forum a few tme every week when i find the time and I constantly find new models of the members here that make my jaw drop. I’ve learned so much from the guys here - i feel i need to pay everyone here a bonus [bow]

All in all, it’s a really nice build. [tup][tup] Nice whitewash and weathering. One issue with it, is that the tow cables are rather floating. Certainly a heavy tow cable is stiff enough that it won’t be contacting along every inch of its length, but neither would it be able to float from the front eye to the back of the tank. If you could work it so that appears to be held up by the equipment on the hull and a bit by the spare track, it would look outstanding.

Am I the only one who can’t see the pics? [:(] [sigh]

Try right-clicking the X and selecting “View Image”

I can’t see them either, you have to do this because webshots doesn’t support hotlinking

I had to right click, select property, and copy the URL in a different widow. It’s worth the trouble, nicely weathered [tup]

You are right about the tow cables - they seem to float a bit. I am gonna cover that up a bit by using some lichens as Camo. I added some photo etched handles on the hull and some fine wire should hold some winter foliage. I decided i am going to build a little ambush diorama vignette with the tank hidden in a covered snowdrift. Might be a while until I get to it but I’ll be sure to fix the spare tracks, the cables and I am going to add the winter wash to the tracks as well.
