This is a very nice kit and at reasonable price. I am working to expand my Nam collection.

I wanted to do all bombs with no external fuel tanks, but changed my mind so the two big ass bombs ended up gluing to the base.

I don’t normally do in-flight but I think I prefer it for this plane.

Base/stand is from my junk box

Very awesome! I think you made the right choice by doing it in flight.

Looks pretty good. I have the kit but never got around to starting it, even though I have some after market things to add. I was thinking of doing a A.F. versions with the rock group “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” on the cowl or a different V.N.A.F. squadron’s markings.

I did find a photo of a A.F. A-1E carrying a fuel/air weapon under one wing. It was so heavy that was the only weapon it was going to carry, plus its external tanks. The trouble is, I would have to make this beast by hand and it came to a point in what looked like corrugated metal, not a easy build.

I like it. Especially displayed on that stand.

That’s an A-1 model build —No pun intended. The A-1 could carry the bomb load of a B-17 and those 4 20MM cannons were great for fire suppression as well as the napalm and bombs. The best thing for the ground pounders under fire was the loliter time. The A-1 hung arround and beat up on the enemy. The “fast movers” zoomed in and zoomed out. The A-1s hung arround. I have a special fondness for that old bird and your model is a great representation of it. Thanks.

Why?

This plane could do so much, and with a full load lived up to the nickname " The Flying Dump Truck" But, Boy! When she unloaded, you knew it! ! Very ,Very fine job!

What a beast! Wonderful model, cnq. That payload catches your attention and the in-flight display emphasizes it. You can almost hear the A-1 hauling that load. Well done.

Can’t go wrong with a Tamiya kit and this one came out great!! Nice work.

That looks great.
