Thanks Bish. OK her aft 4.1 Inch Mounts have been replaced with Resin along with the Searchlights from Veteran Models. More to come soon…Cheers mark
Looks very nice. I am still debating on getting the searchlights, how many boxes of those did you need.
If you want to display all 7 you will need 2 Boxes as there are only 6 in a box. If you wish to use the Covers on the 2 on the Stack then only use 1 Box…Cheers mark
Thanks Mark. Currently i have only been able to get there stuff from your neck of the woods as they are hard to find in the UK.
I got them from a Business here in Australia called BNA Models. They should be able to help you. Cheers Mark
Ye, thats where i got the items i already have from, i got them from his e-bay site. There is a company in the UK that has the vetren stuff but don’t always have it in stock and it wasn’t much more to get them from BMA.
I have the Revell Bismarck kit and a rather large Lion Roar PE set. I need to go through the both of them and get an idea of what the lights and some other parts will look like and if its worth getting the vetrenparts. having paid about £100 for the PE i don’t really want to be buying resin if i don’t need it, thats why i only got the smaller AA guns.
I did have great service from BMA, i think even with the postage it was not much more than i would have got them for in the UK and i have ordered from them since, i will deffinetly use them again.
Having a break from doing the Resin Sets. I moved onto the Hull and checked the Base Fitment. The Brass Bases are from Pontos. Also working out the Camo Scheme I will do her in plus the Paints I will be using. More to come soon…Cheers mark
So cool, watching with great interest.
Thanks for dropping in my Friend…Cheers mark
Always enjoy your builds Mark. Great subject from DKM.
Thank you for your comments Eric. OK have started work on her Midships Deck. Have removed the moulded on Gun Cleaning Tubes and will replace them with Scratchbuilt ones. I have also detailed her very plain looking Bulkheads. More to come soon…Cheers mark
Have now started work on her Bow Section. Have drilled out the Hawse for the Peak Anchor and a Companionway to Port of her Turret. The Moulded Anchor Chains have been sanded off anf the Bull Rings have been added to her other Anchor Hawses which are missing from the Kit. More to come soon…Cheers Mark
Just a quick update. Her 15 Inch and 5.9 Inch Turrets are now completed along with their P/E Parts. More to come soon…Cheers Mark
looking good mark
Thanks for your comments Steve much appreciated. Her Hull is now painted and her A/M Main Wooden Deck has been laid. More to come soon…Cheers mark
Hi surfsup, wow that wooden deck looks amazing. I was sceptical of them at first but seeing how well they enhance your deck, I may go looking for a set when I get to building on my ships. Very nice.
Hi Surfsup;
I have been watching this with interest. I have to say the decks look great ! I am doing the same to -Don’t Laugh ! The Lindberg Bismark . Using the same referrences too !
There are some gross inaccuracy issues , but they are fixable . Believe it or not the Tirpitz from the same company does not have exactly the same parts as most would believe . So a Kitbash is in order .Got most of the surgery done and now modifying the parts to fit right .
This job is not for the faint of heart though. T.B.
Thanks my Friend. I was unsure of them when I first started using them but now I am glad I did. Had a few problems with one of them. I use MK1 Decks as I think they are the best…Cheers Mark
Thanks TB. Doing the same on the old Lindberg Kit would have me tearing my Hair out but still will be interesting to see how yours turns out…Cheers Mark
Looks like you did a fine job laying down the wood deck … it looks great!
You are also doing very well indeed on the PE - that the stuff that drives me to distraction sometimes but it does give the appearance of more realistic scale than do the plastic kit parts in most cases.
