Tamiya 1/35 stuG IV

Hi everyone,

Wanted to post some inprogress pictures of my stuG IV. It is a project I’ve been working on for a while off and on. I’m determined to finish it.

Here are a couple of shots of the lower hull and tracks. I am using Fruils.

Here are some PE details. Not really sure if the spare track holders are correct for a stuG IV. I’ve seen them on a Panzer IV but no pictures of a stuG. They came with the Eduard set so I’m using them. I also replaced the bolts with plastic rod.

Here is a shot of the spare track in front. I used some pins I picked up at the LHS. They are used for ship rigging. I will have to lengthen them with plastic rod but I think they will work.

Let me know what you think.

Joe

It looks very good Joe, what did you used for the Zim?

Looks pretty good. Nice to see another MI modeller (I’m in Troy).

You might want to detail up the left antenna mount. The kit one is pretty inadequate. Look here:

Looking good, I’m guessing that this is the Eduard PE zim set?

Wow! Looks great so far! [8D]

sweet, looking good, like the fruils.

Terry.

Thanks guys! Yeah it’s the Eduard PE Zimm Set. It’s my first time using Zimmerit so I can’t say if it’s better than the resin option or paste.

T26E4, thanks for the link. Yeah the kit parts do come up short on detail. I grew up in Southeastern Michigan. My family still live in the area. Ever go to Old Guard or attend Panzerfest?

Joe

Real nice Joe, like it so far. That zim doesn’t look too bad for PE. I just saw a review on Armorama for it.

Hey that’s cool. Yeah I was at Panzerfest this year. I was running around serving the Vendors and chatting with them. I did the Superdetailing seminar and also interviewed Wolfgang Kloth for his presentation. I was running around like a headless chicken. MAYBE spent 10 minutes looking at the models. Still had a great time. Contact me offsite ok?

Eric, Yeah I saw that too. I thought it was interesting because it seems most do not like PE zimm. I may give it a shot again.
