I’ve had this one on & off the bench for a few months now, finally got it finished. I bought it with the intention of building the Western desert Caunter scheme option but, when looking for reviews & builds in prep for my own, almost every one I saw was in the Caunter scheme. So, for different, I thought I’d build one stationed in the UK - little or no wear & tear, maybe some stowage, as if on exercise in summer.
Stowage on the rear hull is made from Milliput, cocktail sticks, and a bit of bandage, paints are mostly Vallejo acrylics, with some Humbrol enamels used for details, and black/brown oil washes.
Anyway, here it is - please let me know what you think.
It’s a bit “dustier” than I thought - I’m going to blame the artificial light (either that, or the summer of 1942 was a good one!)
Thanks, John, I’m quite pleased with my first effort[:)]. I’ve just realised I’ve forgotten the bloody antenna! I’ll fix it tomorrow (3" long paintbrush bristle).
That’s nicely done. I love that light weathering and I have the 1/48 kit of this one and I’m going with the same idea you have. You’re right, everyone always goes with the other scheme lol.
Thanks, Mike and Tiger II, the two-tone brown camouflage scheme was something I was a bit unsure of - the painting diagram in the instructions is in black & white & the small colour pics on the box aren’t much to go by. But, when it was applied (I used Vallejo 71.038 Standard Camouflage Colour (S.C.C) 2 for the dark brown, as references indicated, and Vallejo 71.323 Dark Earth for the lighter shade), it looked pretty good. Oh, the green box on the rear hull came from Tamiya’s Churchill Mk VII, I didn’t make that![:)]
