Tamiya 1/35 M60A1 USMC question

Hi

Everyone

I just picked up the above kit at my club meeting last night (won it in our raffle)… slight problem is it is missing spures H and E. which are the reactive armor and commander cupola with mg… does anybody make these in after the market format? Also, any 105mm main gun barrel available for this kit in after market?

The only aftermarket armor for the M60a1 that I know of was made by Verlinden. It’s OOP. I had one and wouldn’t recommend getting it.

If I recall correctly, Barrel Depot make an AM aluminum barrel suitable for the M60 series.

The Tamiya armor was for the Israeli Blazer armor, not for the type used by the Marines. Gunze Sangyo made a set of white metal USMC style ERA that they sold separately as well as a complete kit including tank.

I thought the tamiya one was with the Rise passive armor and the Blazer armor was from that Academy’s blazer magach 6, no?

RISE/Passive describes the modifications done to the M60A1 tank and nothing to do with the armor. Passive refers to the type of night vision sights, RISE stands for Reliability Improvement of Selected Equipment. There are RISE/Passive tanks with no add on armor of any type.

Tamiya only did the US style ERA (explosive reactive armor). Gunze Sangyo sold a white metal version separately that you could add to any M60A1 RISE/Passive kit and get a Desert Storm era M60A1 as used by the Marines. The Gunze Sangyo set was rare when it was released and became unneccessay when Tamiya and Academy released US style ERA with their kits.

Academy did both the Israeli version of the ERA (commonly called Blazer by the model companies). as well as the US style ERA on an M60A1 RISE/Passive. The USMC kit also included the M9 Dozer.

I believe Verlinden only did the Israeli style ERA (I still have a set). I do not believe they did a USMC version, but of course, I could be wrong.
