Tamiya 1/32 Zero Progress (w/ pic's)

A couple of weeks ago I started on my most prized model, a Tamiya 1/32 Zero. Here are some of the progess pic’s:

Sorry about the blurry pic, I tried to get a closeup. The only thing I’ve added at this point is ignition wires on the engine.

looks like alot of parts, i would like to see the cockpit

Hi ya therriman

Looks like you are getting a real good start on an outstanding kit … good luck … enjoy … and share with us the results … [swg]

Man we need to do some work with you on that depth of field thing. Those pictures are tantalizing. What kind of camera are you working with, digital or film?

Digital it’s a Visioneer LX 200 2.0 Megapixel w/ 4x digital zoom.

gunney if you look in the General section under my “vacation over” topic you’ll see a photo of the cockpit before I put into fusalage. Very nice cockpit, lot’s of detail.

Coming along nicely Tim. Those sprues are sure loaded with detailed parts. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

You’re off to a great start, Tim. It will nicely complement your Wildcat.

Looking good!
But my eyes…my eyes! I’m blind now!
Heh heh heh!

Looking forward to more (focused) pix!

Looking good. I saw photos of that entire kit spread out (I also spit my coffee when I saw the price) and immediately lusted after. I’m eager to see the engine and more work down the line. So far, so good.
And Swanny, a warning in advance – when I get this new digital camera, I coming to you for all my advice. I am a journalist. It does not say “photojournalism” anywhere on my resume, and for very good reason.
Tom

And I thought I was done teaching photojournalism twenty years ago.

Wish the pics were clearer, but looks good nonetheless.
The problem you’re having, I suspect, is an autofocus. Your background is in focus, but the foreground is blurry. If you have a manual focus on the camera, practice with it so we can see the build.
Looking forward to more !

No I don’t have a manual focus, it’s a fixed focus. How can I get it to focus on the model??

Or is there a limit to how close of a photo I can get it it??

Good looking Zeke-in-progress pics. I have built this plane and it was a real treat. It is on my Christmas list so I can build a weathered version.

therriman - the easiest way to have a camera autofocus on what you want is to give it only one option. Use a plain (plane?) background, such as poster board or cloth (without a pattern). Place the object you wish to pjotograph as close as you can to the backdrop. The weakest area of a camera’s focus are objects in near proximity to the lens. Place a card with printing (such as a cereal box) on your background. Then take pics of it, moving the camera farther away while noting the distance. Load the pics into your computer. The closest shot with the clearest printing will give you your minimum distance for focus.

Hope this helps.

WOW! Now I know what to expect for! mine is still lying in the box waiting for my skills to imrove, hope it wont take too long [B)]
The thing is a beauty! show us more pics man!
Good luck!
