Tamiya 1/32 Scale Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero - Finished

This one has been on the bench for a while between other projects. I have another large plane project coming up, so I figured I’d better wrap this one up to make room.

This is Tamiya’s kit 60309 and second time I build this. This one definitely turned out better. The kit itself is awesome with lots of details. No aftermarket details were added except for a set of Montex paint masks for all the main markings. The landing gear is retractable, and the cowlings can be removed.

I tried to use the blackbasing technique on this one. I’m still on the fence using the technique over the traditional preshading.

Thanks for looking!

Well done! [Y]

Ole, great job with your Zero [Y]

What did you use for the antenna wire? Noticed it curves slightly near the tail fin.

Fantastic! You did am awesome job.

Thanks all,

It’s a piece of metal wire that came with the kit. I should be able to straighten it out a bit.

Awesome! I thought I was the only one who wasn’t a fan of the black base technique. I guess I’m not alone. Thanks for sharing.

very VERY nice finish on this one!

Thanks a lot!

Oh krap, thought I’d already commented here.

Superb job, the chipping and weathering looks incredible!!!

Great job on this build, Ole! I just started the same kit for the Japanese Group Build, and I hope that mine turns out half as good as your’s did!

Thanks, it’s a great kit and I’ll definitely get another one.
