Tamiya 1/25 Jagdpanther pic

Hi, folks!
One more pic for the weekend for ya!

Here’s Tamiya’s 1/25 Jagdpanther late version, fresh off the showroom floor!

It’s been in this pristine showroom finish for about a year and a half now, when a change of residence put completion on hold for a while. It’s just begging for some weathering! Hasn’t even received a wash yet.

The colors are a base coat of Olive Drab, with German Gray and Dark Yellow on top, based on some articles I read somehwere. I love German Gray, so I thought I’d go with that! This was my second try at camo with an airbrush. Still trying to figure it out! With no weathering whatsoever, the color contrast is quite striking.

Alterations and additions to this model include adding floors to the sponsons, changing the ventilator position on the roof, exchanging all grab handles with brass rod, detailing the barrel a little, and adding a PE bit here and there.

I’d love to hear your opinions of this model as it is so far.
I’d also love to hear what you would do with it from this point!

Really crisp, and clean build J-Hulk. Love the paint scheme, and that baby will look even more awesome with some hardcore weathering.

Cheers

Rob

Wow J-Hulk - that is clean & pristine -

What’s the blue book value on that

Does it come w/reclining leather bucket seats, a CD player, tilt wheel, & AC

[8D] Had to put the sun glasses on … the shine was too much … cleanest tank I’ve ever seen! [:p]

As always a nice build Brian … this baby will look real good once you’ve had it wallow in a mud hole or two. [^]

It’s just like Sprite, Brian: crisp and clean. Great build. Love to see it weathered, though. Mud makes any camo better!

My elbow still hurts from buffing out all that Turtle Wax!

Thanks for the kind words again, fellas. Ya’ll are too kind! I figured at least one person would give me some guff about the Panzer Gray.
Yeah, this baby’s due for a wild offroad ride pretty quick. I’ll post more pix of it then, for your scrutiny.

Or I might do another one, in the deepest, glossiest black laquer with gold rally stripes finish I can pull off. Some tasteful chrome bits here and there…Centerline roadwheels…BAM! Pro-Street Jagdpanther!

J,

Let’s take that baby to the park for a cruise! [8D] [8D] [8D]

Superb job!!!

Hey, Brian. You know, those tanks had to be that clean at least once in their lives. The factories didn’t weather them for the troops, you know. I like it (even the grey!!) lol
Did you free hand the camo, or did you use stenciles? I like your technique. Not sure what you have left to figure out on that airbrush!
Nice job, as always.

Bill

Striking, very striking, indeed.

Hello, Bill and Dwight! Thanks for the kind comments.

It’s just freehand with the AB. I used Tamiya Olive Drab in the spray can for the base color, then the dark yellow, then the gray, and OD with the AB to tighten up the dark yellow a little bit.

Sure, they weren’t weathered at the factories, but I doubt they were buffed to such a high sheen either! I had sprayed on some gloss for the decals, and more flat on top of that to seal it, but it’s still pretty dang shiny!

When I finally get around to building my 1/16 Tiger II, I want to try using masks with the AB to make a nice ambush pattern.
