talk about a rookie mistake.....

Ok Jabbe, ya got photographic evidence!! LoL… the model manufacturer GOOFED!! LoL…
Keep the razors sharp!![:0]

The darkened part on that instruction sheet indicate that part should be painted white that’s all. just look at the star and it’s all clear. I still think ripping those landing gears off and re-pin them with copper wire can salvage the kit with little effort. have fun fixing it up.

why do i see equations on that loose leaf paper next to your cat???

oh, haha. I’m an Aero Engineering student. This desk doubles as my HW and modeling desk, so I was probabily trying to do both at the same time. If you look close, you can see:

Xcp = (-M’le)/L’ = ((-M’c/4)/L’) + c/4

that means the center of pressure for a wing (Xcp) is at the Moment of the leading edge divided by the Lift, which is also equal to the quarter-chord Moment divided by the lift plus the quarter-chord length. The " ’ " on M’ and L’ means that the Moment and Lift is for a unit span and not a true wing. Aero 355, Fun Stuff.

Re: the light and dark of the plans. Look at it as the plans being the same as the negative to a black & white photograph. The dark blue of the plane is represented by the light area on the plans and the contrasting white area of the plane is represented by the contrasting dark area of the plans.

The manufacturer did not goof on the instructions. If anyone noticed, the rest of the instructions show the aircraft’s fuselage to be light. This was their way of showing the dark colour on the model.

The dark sections on the tail represent a different colour, in this case white so the model is painted correctly.

I’m not rubbing salt in the wound (really, I not!) but perhaps you should have been using this equation instead:

L = Left & R = Right! [:o)]

haha, thanks. I’ll plug that into my calculator next time. [8D]

by calculator you mean the super doper venerable TI-89 aka very reliable electronic cheat sheet for engineers??

You would have done the wheels right if it were a Fw 190.

No. i know salt. that’s salt. wait a sec’…

yeah. salt…

ow.

face it griggsy - you’re just a mean bast-… uh, person…

salt. first refuge of the ignorant man that could never hope to be a student of aerodynamics.

and i KNOW ignorant. that equation actually gave me a bit of vertigo when i looked at it. please don’t do that anymore. we lib-arts-majors/snipers can’t handle anything other than ballistics tables and scope-dope formulae…

:slight_smile:

no mistakes, no learning. learning=good. mistakes=learning. therefore, mistakes=good.
thanks for reminding us that we are analog humans, not digital print instructions…and that’s OK…

randy

I’m afraid I’m using a TI-86 which isn’t as popular as the 83 and 89.

And the wheels would have been right if it had been a P-47 too.

I agree with this!! We can’t learn if we don’t ask either[:o)]

DOH![B)] Of course!![(-D]
