Not a bad kit, overall. The tracks are easy but a tad fragile, and workable, but very stiff. The suspension is meant to be workable as well, but the leading roadwheel doesn’t articulate, so having the rest moveable seems a bit pointless. It was built mostly out-of-box, with a couple of minor additions: I replaced the rear fender springs with wire, and added number plates on the fenders. No major fit issues, and some clever engineering. I did it in Afrika Korps markings. The instructions say not to use the frame antenna for the desert version, but it seems plausible to me that some frame-antenna versions made it to the desert, especially the battalion signals officer. Finished in Panzer Grey from a rattle can, over-sprayed with Model Master RAL 8020 Afrika Braun.
Great job. Really like the finish. And there’s lots of examples of frame antennae on Afrika Korps vehicles.
Amazing work. The weathering is fantastic. Did the decals markings include the look of having been sprayed on or is that something you added to it?
I really dig the Takom 1/16 kits…hope they come out with more!
I’m pretty new to German armor, but I think what we’re seeing is an early war vehicle that went to Africa wearing its factory grey, with markings applied. The brown was later field-applied, and the markings were simply sprayed around.
The effect is really nice, @link955nh! As is that muffler. Wow!!
Very cool, @link955nh!
Really great work. I love that dent!
Impressive work. I’ve been tempted to get one of those Takom 1/16 kits.
Excellent work. I knew the Pz I track links were fragile in 1/35, but I thought they’d be sturdier in 1/16. The Panzer Grey undercoat with the Panzer Dunkel Gelb really brings out that Afrika Korps look. The decals, especially the division and Afrika Korps logos really stand out nicely. BTW, great work on that muffler.
