Taking snapshots of armor/figures

I took some pictures of a few of my recent vignettes…they came out horribly! Of course I would like to share, but the quality doesn’t do my hard work justice. Any hints on picture taking?

I’ve tried with and without the flash on.

Thanks!

Mike

Taking good photos can be a bit of a mystery. Lighting is important, and I’ve heard that bright natural light is best, however, direct sunlight makes for too much contrast. Another thing to check for is that if your camera has a macro feature (often a florwer icon), to use it when taking close up photos.

What kind of camera are you using? Somebody here will have the same one and be able to give you specific tips.

I used to have one of those cheap digiital cameras it didn’t have any focus capability but it did have a macro switch. Here is a little trick I used. Use a tripod or fix the camera in place somehow. Take a series of pictures starting at about 2ft and move the subject closer by 2-3in. when you find the right distance put a mark on the table and that is what you should use for the rest of your pictures.

Like abarne said macro mode is important, then there is f-stop, manual focus, depth of field, image stablilization, do the hokey pokey, etc. [:D]
