Take A Ride On The Night Train

This is the Occidental Replica 1/48 T-6 built OOTB except for the add of PE seat belts & AM decals. The kit is mostly a copy of the old Monogram kit but with recessed engraved detail. It’s a little rough in spots, but builds up pretty well.

The model depicts an Aircraft named “Night Train” which flew in the Korean War with the 6149th TCS(A). The venerable old Texans were used in Korea as light-attack, spotter, utility and observation aircraft.

Great looking build from here.[tup] It must be even better up close! Thanks for the pics.

What a cool airplane!!! I had a chance to ride in a T-6 down in Orlando last year, and I must say it was awesome!!! Lot’s-O-G’s!!! Nice job on the Texan as always. It’s always a pleasure to see your builds.[bow]

I would love to get my hands on that kit. Do you think Great Models has it?

Nice job Rick nice clean build as usual.

Great build on the Texan/Mosquito/T-6G. Did you use Alclad for the finish or something else?

Thanks for the comments guys. Much appreciated.

The NMF is Alclad2.

Nice build Rick. The NMF looks awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done Rick! The finish looks great, what primer did you use under the Alclad.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful build Rick. It’s really nice and clean and that paint job is outstanding! [tup]

Thanks Daniel & Dan, appreciate your comments.

The primer was a gloss black acrylic.

I can’t wait to do my SNJ-2 and T-6 now. Thanks for the inspiration Rick!

I usually don’t get excited about post-war trainers but that Mosquito is pretty cool… I like your choice of subject…

Fade to Black…

Great job, Rick. Excellent build and really nice NMF! It´s not often we see a two bladed prop around here.

May I also say that I agree with everyone else, that is a beautiful job ! [:)][wow]

The thing that I have trouble with is the exhaust stains that come from the exhausts and partially extend down the aircraft, they aren’t there.

The other thing is that the aerial is quite often left completely out or off the aircraft.

These things will quite often cause an aircraft to not make it past the prejudging protion of a contest.

Rick,

Your Texan looks great!

Regards,

From one Texan to another Texan Nice clean look dont change a thing. Like the NMF.

Thad

Thanks for the comments everyone, appreciate them very much.

Vance, I don’t build for contests, strictly for my own enjoyment. You are correct about the exhausts stains normally seen, but I prefer my builds clean. In this case, I have photos which show the aircraft to be highly polished & nearly immaculate. May not have looked that way all the time, but it did at least for the pics . I left the antennae wires off because the model will be on display on a table for a club display of Korean War aircraft & armor models. Past experience has taught me that no wire is better than a broken wire [:(]. I’ll add the antennae after the show.[:)].

Regards, Rick

Excellent looking build Rick the NMF looks great.
Did you paint the the wing and rudder tips or are those decals?

I just love the way the T-6 looks an awesome plane

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Cheers
Thom

Very sharp, very pretty Rick !

Chris

Thom, Chris, Thanks for your comments guys, appreciate them.

The markings on the wing & rudder tips are decals.
