This is my 1:48 Ta-183 Huckebein from AMTech. I decided to model it in a “what if” italian camo scheme. The model is built OOB, with scratch built antennae. I added a pilot figure from my spares box and gave it an oxygen mask made with lead foil and wire.
The “smoke ring” camouflage was airbrushed free hand.
Probably should not have mentioned freehanding airbrush camo, now you will have to tell us how you got that good, and was it you or the airbrush that makes the difference [:D][:D][:D]
My airbrush is an Iwata Medea HP-CS, and it’s the best piece of equipment I have ever owned. Awesome for detail work, and also works great for wide coverage. Can’t recommend it enough [:)]
I built it myself. I actually got the blueprints for the base from an issue of Finescale Magazine (can’t remember which one right now, but it’s not too old). The rod is just clear acrylic that I heated in the oven (when my wife wasn’t around [;)]) and bent to shape. I added brass tubing of the right diameter to the base and the jet exhaust of the model to receive the acrylic rod and painted the base with textured paint from a rattle can.
