[8)] I am thinking to make a Diorama, regarding to the figures, maybe I will need to make some conversions (the kit not have).
The version of this T55AM will be from Libya. About the tank, [:I] I will remove some parts of the turret because the Libyan version [:(!] does not have them. ( [:D] No problem)
what a project ! i have to wonder if this much effort was put into building the real thing. i’m not sure how much research you want to do on t-55’s, but it might interest you to know that military modelling( the british one ) did aseries on the t-54 & t-55 back in the 80’s that was quite excellent.
Hola Rodolfo, your T55 is “MUY LIMPIO”, very clean. it sure looks like a labor of love. excuse my spanish. my wife is spanish, but she doesn’t speak it very well. my daughter speaks it all the time but she doesn’t live with me THANK GOD. keep posting the pic’s this is a beautiful project. semper fi, mike
…Nice… very nice .Look forward to pics of the finished product Rodolfo. Attention to detail is awsome . I read a kit report on this T55 a while ago,“they” said the wheels were incorrect? I am no T55 x-pert, [X-)]however it might be worth checking out
Thanks!!!, I encounter a difference in the wheels, this kit it have 10 rivets instead 6, regarding the 10 rivets probably were fabricated in Poland or Czechoslovakia - (in that epoch -80’s- were fabricated in these Countries too)
Here more pics, I used copper to make the tow cables because of the kit are very bad
Here more pics: Version: Armour of a Libyan Battalion, 1981 - the name of the turret is “Salah-al-Din” (Hero and leader of the Century XII) - Front: plate enrollment says Army and number of the armour - Note: the borders of the marks must be irregular
Actually, the words on the turret really say “my other car is a mule cart.” [(-D]
Looks great. Doing sloppily-painted marks is always a challenge, because then people just think you did a bad job of painting on neat markings. It’s a dilemma. The Hitlerjugend vehicles for Normandy are a perfect example. I’ve noted that it looks a lot more realistic once the weathering is done.
rtvmodeler, what’s going to happen with the big slots on the front of the turret?
By the way, a very interesting subject. That’s the great thing about the T-55. It was everywhere (and to some extent, still is).
What’s the combat record of your T-55 unit? Did it fight in Chad?
1.- the big slots will stay there because not was part of the modifications. Sometimes the gunner changed the position the machine gun in the another slot
2.- This armor force participated in combats in the border with Egypt and the Invasion to Chad in 1980
In the next two pics, I applied weathering with oils (dark-yellow) and turpentine spirit and I applied powders pigments same color too.
Next 4 pics:
I realized an experiment and I obtain a good result.
1.- Over the wash and pigments previous, I applied washes of sienna mixed with shadow over pigments
2.- Rust pigment
3.- Sienna pigment
4.- rust (40%) & sienna (60%) mixed
With this was possible to mix both applications
I am working in another details, I need to give more earth in some zones
[:D] Finally here is my T55 finished!. I applied additional brown-red (pigments) for eliminate some of rust and adding the town cables. Represent a tank abandoned in the border with Tchad after of manny battles. Sure, soon I will ad in a Diorama. I hope you like it.
Very nice work Rodolfo from start to finish. Can’t wait to see this one in a diorama setting. It’s already come to life, the dio will just add that much more to it. [tup]
