Got the T-34/76 from Tamiya 1/35 from the Secret Santa GB and wanted to try out PE or some AM for the first time on this kit. As I said, it’s the first time I’ll ever be using PE…I have an etch mate, and was wondering what PE or AM sets are out there that would be a good buy so I can get my feet wet.
If you don’t want to get overwhelmed try one of Eduard’s “zoom” sets. They provide the basic trash screens for air intakes and cooling fan towers plus a few small tool attachments. Not a whole lot more, but it’ll get your feet wet and give some good results as well.
Eduard Zoom T-34/76 Model 1942 set is a good suggestion for starting with PE. For not much more money, you could get the full T-34/76 Model 1942 set or T-34/76 Model 1943/ChTZ. The first PE set I ever used was an Eduard Sherman set, and I found it pretty easy to deal with, and it certainly seemed easier than some of the horror stories of Aber sets for example. One caveat to remember when using PE: Just because a part is included in a PE set doesn’t mean you have to use it. Sometimes I think PE makers feel they have to cram the world into PE sets and end up including parts in which the original plastic parts really look better.
