T3 vs. BT-5 vs. BT-7

On my workbench (for the Italeri Group Build), I have a Zvesda/Italeri BT-5 that I am converting to a T3 Christie via a Commander Series conversion.

I’m not too sure that I like the Italeri tracks. If I were to buy individual BT-7 tracks, would the T3 Christie be accurate?

I’m not 100% sure but I think so…let me dig into the early Soviet tank references I’ve got and check.

Please do. It would be a shame to invest so much in the conversion and have el cheapo tracks on the kit. After all, the conversion cost 3x the amount of the kit. Unfortunately, the Fruilmodel tracks will cost as much as the conversion. :frowning:

It will be worth it though.

On a good note. It is going together nicely thus far.

Using “Russian Tanks of World War II: Stalin’s Armored Might” by Tim Bean and Will Fowler, it would seem that the T3 tracks and suspension remained the same on all of the BT series of tanks based on Christie’s original design starting with the straight “copy” of the BT-1 all the way through the BT-7. I would say run with it.

Sweet…thanks for the information. I’ll do it.
