As the title says are their any T-90 kits available?
Tamiya makes one, they have it over at greatmodels.
Tamiya makes a Japanese Type 90 tank. The Russian T-90 is not available in kit form. It’s basically an upgraded T-72 and there is a conversion kit in resin. Unfortunately, I don’t remember who makes it though, sorry.
Oh well, can always build a T-72 then. Thank you for the help.
The only T-90 in kit form that I’ve heard of is by ACE in 1/72 scale, but Miniarm makes a resin conversion and so does AEF Designs. They are both for the Tamiya T-72.
I was recently looking for one myself. here is what is out there at present:
The T-90, as stated, is basically an improved T-72 the companies that make conversions are:
AEF Designs
Mini Arm
and I think SP designs.
The AEF is a good one I think, but it runs about $40-50 over the cost of the T-72 kit. You can flea-bay and get the Tamiya or Ertl T-72 kit at a decent price. the MiniArm, when done, will run a whopping $150 (!!!) over the cost of the basic T-72!!!
Dragon Models lists a 1/35th scale T-90, but it does not have a price, and a call placed to them last week said that they do not know when they will have it - I guess about mid-2009…or so.
If you cannot wait, go to Historica Books (google it) and you’ll find what you need. AEF is pretty good…when he ships. Historica does not carry the complete line, but they at least ship what they have and fast, too
The Esci T-72/T-74 kits are best left in the clearance bin or unbid on eBay.
Once upon a time, Kirin made a resin conversion for the Dragon T-72 kit. It included a new front hull and turret.
AEF conversions are suspect unless given a chance to inspect the product prior to purchase.
Best option is the Miniarm conversion and the Tamiya kit. We’ve been waiting a very long time for a T-90 in kit form. I think even Zvezda promised one a few years ago when they started reboxing old Dragon Soviet armor kits.
