T-34 ammo storage

I’m building the 1/16 Trumpter T-34/76 (1943 model) and in general this is an excellently researched and accurate kit. But one thing about it bothers me. It represents the tank as having only five rounds of main gun ammo available in ready racks. I should think that if a crew went through those rounds and had to root around in the floor-level bins for more ammo they wouldn’t survive very long. Does anybody know anything about ammo storage on that model T-34 (almost all the interior shots I’ve seen are of the T-34/85)?

From what my friend Panzerjager has told me about the T-34 (he is quite knowlegeable on the subject), Ammo storage was on of the main drawbacks to the design as well as the early versions with only a two man turret crew. Poor tactical use as well as poor crew training and the lousy interior layout led to a T-34’s lifespan sometimes being measured in hours on the battlefield. This was gradually improved as the war progressed but many of the deficiencies remained until the wars end.

don’t really have time for a proper response I’m on the way out of the office e-mail me terry35@gmail.com and I can certainly help you out with regards to your dilemma.
