Gentlemen,
i am wondering if anyone has any information regarding the half-circular cut-outs on the DML t-34/76 40-42 pannier type spare fuel tanks. The kit provides a bottom with fillers to close these off that leave a pair of very visible half-circular seams on the narrow sides. Fill these in, or are they a retrofit? I notice that the BT series of tanks used a similar design. Any advice would be immensely appreciated!
Fill in the seams. The side armor plates on a T-34 are single pieces of armor, and would not have any indents/cut out for the external fuel tanks,
Thank you for the confirmation on my suspicions. Sure would have hated to find out later that there was a purpose for them and clever moulding would have been wasted ( I sanded the exhaust pipe on the first Dml 1940 when it came out). I plan on having ten of these things on board with one marked engine oil. It struck me to build a grassy road dioram with the tank attemting to cover a lot of open ground at the path’s end. Scouts with assorted weapons and extra ammo on back sound nice?.
LOL! yes the dioram sounds good! What scale will this be in? In 1/35 with 10 tanks it would be HUGE!!!
Fuel tanks. Ten in 1/35 would seem like a factory setting dio, maybe? Not yet… This has been a build with a Ferdinand, Tiger(P), Pzr II C, two t-34s and a 251 half track. A shipment from Home in Alabama from my Mother. I miss my stash. This Alaskan town has No model shops and a bad postal reputation. I do what I can.
