Swastika decal question.

another way to go abtout it is w/ Verlinden’s photo etch templates.
(vp1394 Swastikas Templates on www.greatmodels.com) for < $15, you get 8 pairs (for painting the background white and fore ground black insignias, i guess) that should cover most, if not all of the ‘common’ scales.

Oh yeah, forgot about those! Got one of 'em a couple years ago and I’ve yet to use it. Of course, it would help if I could only remember where’n’hell I put it! [:p]

Fade to Black…

To make things about swastikas even more confused, there is an article on the IPMS Stockholm page, about RAF 112sqn. Some WWI a/c of that (and probably not only) sqn carried swastikas. “The use of the swastika as an individual marking during WW I was quite common as, at that time, it was simply a good luck charm”.

Hi every one,

After reading this post, as a jew I have mixed feelings about it from a stand point I had family die there and a grand father help liberate 3 camps. I am also a realist and realize that the plane i am holding in my hands did not do anything to any one. When I had first met my wife she had bought me a 1/72 AMT/Ertel Junkers Ju 88-c4. That was 5 years ago and I have yet to build the plane. It is acctually a reall good kit and I think it may be a tamiya rebox cause the quality is that good. I just pulled the kit out again and noticed something funny on the decal sheet…It has 4 swastikers on it (2hollow and 2 black) but they are missing the middle of the swas. you have the 4 branches and a clear dot where they would connect. I checked the instructions to see if they were supposed to be placed around a window or port thinking that might be why it was done that way but no such findings. One day I will build this kit just to help get the demons out of me about the whole thing but I have to admit the germas came up with some great planes.

Happy modeling

Greetings F4Ufan. Check that decal sheet again. Just to the right of the outline gray swastikas and just above the black with white outlined swastikas, you will see tiny crosses that look like smallwing/fusalage crosses. These little crosses go into the center of the swastikas to complete the proper shape.

would you look at that your right. I thought they were just smaller german crosses like the larger ones on the sheet. Those are the only swas on the sheet. I take it you have the model also to have know the exact location…either that or you broke into my home and checked while i was sleeping. lol

now that i know that I still might not put them on the model…time will tell.

thanks

Revell does also NOT include the Swatika with their WWII german planes. I find it silly to put it mildly because we can build freely japanese planes from WWII with all there insignia’s on it.
As long as we use the Swastika to complete our models who can complain.

Well the whole Swatika thing here doesnt bother me. I buy alot of german tanks, planes And being from a hispanic decent, My grandfather was a in WWII and he even thought the stuff they made was really good. But I have a question. When did they put them on there planes? whtch ones …all of them??
