What were the Sutton Harnesses used on lend lease P-40s made from? Leather or fabric? and were they died or left in their natural material color? At least when new. I know those things change color with age/use.
Thanks in advance[:D]

Hard to tell the material, but they seem to be a buff color.
They were fabric… take a look at this page from my P-40 site. This is as stock a Kittyhawk cockpit as you’ll ever see. With the exception of some paint touch ups and a few replaced instruments, this cockpit is a vision of time standing still.
Apologies for all the ads and pop-ups…

Thank you for the site/pics/info! That was exactly what I needed. Those are beautiful shots! Is a Kittyhawk I is a P-40E or a later mark?
No problemo, you’re quite welcome.
Technically the Kittyhawk I was the export equivalent to the P-40D, which had only four guns. But only a small number of Kittyhawk Is were actually built with four-gun wings; the rest had six guns.
So the short and simple answer is that the Kittyhawk I, like the later Kittyhawk IA, was more or less the same as the P-40E.
