Surface looks like sandpaper

While painting the bottom of my P-51 last night, the painted surface ended up looking like sandpaper. I am using my IWATA Revolution double action airbrush. Which i don’t use as often as my VLS one. Anyway, I was spraying Model Master Neutral Gray thinned with Lacquar at 20 to 25 psi. The paint was thinned about 70/30 ( paint/thinner )
i think I thinned the paint too much causing the problem. or could it be something else?

Perhaps you are holding the airbrush too far away from the model. Your pressure might be too high. (I like to spray at 15 PSI) Your paint could be either too thick or too tin.

The paint is most likely drying in the air between the airbrush and the model. Common problem. Spray at lower pressure and/or closer to the model.

I concur that the most likely cause is too much distance with too much pressure being the next most likely cause.

BTW, Welcome to the forums!!!

Thanks guys, I will try your suggestions.
