Supplier Wanted

I’m Canadian and looking for a recommended Hobby Shop that fills internet orders. Preferably Canadian because of customs but US is really welcome. In particular I’m looking for a supplier who can sell and deliver 3m’s Acryl-Blue Glazing Putty, and a Touch-N-Flow applicator. None of the four of the HS’s in my home town carry much of a variety of supplies, so, a good, tried and true internet source, with your recommendations would be much appreciated. BTW, I’ve checked out Squadron and they don’t carry these items. thought they might but, no such luck.

Thanks in advance, Poppie

I have had great success with both Squadron www.squadron.com and Micromark www.micromark.com. Hope this helps with your search

I get most of my supplies from Tower Hobbies http://www.towerhobbies.com/ they are not so good for more exotic kits but carry a good selection of main stream stuff (Revell, Tamiya, Italeri etc) and have a wide selection of supplies. I’m not familar with the two items you specifically mentioned so don’t know if they carry them or not.

For automotive kits I like Model Round up http://www.modelroundup.com/ but they don’t really stock supplies.

I occasionally order from Great Models, Megahobby or Lucky Models if I can’t get something from one of the two above.

The 3M putty can be source at a local supplier of automotive parts and supplies. Check with the local collision repair shops to see where they source theirs from. Who knows, they might sell you a tube…you’ll only need one for what they pay for it.

I ship regularly into Canada…if you don’t find a source for the TnF I can pick one up locally and mail it to you.

Poppie, there really isn’t anything to compare with Greatmodels.com or Squadron.com in Canada. There are a number of on-line retailers but you will pay full inflated Canadian prices (despite our stronger dollar) and shipping on top of that and they generally only offer kits. The only draw back of shipping from the States is you will get hit with customs charges depending on the size of your order. Smaller orders ($20 or less) often get through without having to go through customs. It will also take longer to get through customs. I’ve had parcels take as long as 3 months! [:O] And whatever you do do not have it shipped via fedex or ups because they will charge you $30 just to get your package through customs (customs brokerage fee)!!! Made that mistake once!

That’s one reason I suggested you source the putty locally. It is flammable and cannot be mailed. if you are ordering supplies that fall into the hazardous category, you may not have an option but to have it shipped via UPS or FedEx.

The Touch n Flow retails for about $7.00, drop it into a small box and postage is probably another couple of bucks…plus filling out that little green form…piece of cake. Stick an invoice inside just in case customs does open it showing the part description and price. You shouldn’t have any issues with the mail in getting it.

I know Sprue Brothers ships to Canada.
